At G.Willikers! we are commited to our local community and one of the ways we contribute is by cutting back on our use of bags.
In an effort to be conscious of our environment we encourage customers to go Bag Free by donating a dime each time through our One Dime at a Time program. Each month we choose a different charity to donate to, and this month we will once again donate to the Seacoast Local's (H)EAT Fund. Each year, from Nov 1 through March 1 the members of this local organization, through support from their customers, raise funds for food and fuel assistance to provide "Ten Thousand Meals, Ten Thousand Gallons" to people in need on the Maine and New Hampshire Seacoast.
For 35 years, the seacoast community has supported our little toy shop and we feel privileged to be able to give a little back through donations of time, merchandise and money!

The Children's Museum of New Hampshire (formerly The Portsmouth Childrens Museum) has been a long time friend of G.Willikers! Toy Shop.
We have been building, playing and collaborating with them for two decades. And while we will miss them in Portsmouth, we look forward to making new memories together, and celebrate their recent Grand Opening at their new location in Dover, New Hampshire!
Visit their fabulous new website to plan your next trip to the Children's Museum of NH.

G.Willikers! What a great summer for ice cream!
To celebrate this month's Partnership with Izzy's, we're having some fun!
Stop on in at Izzy's Frozen Yogurt and Ice Cream (33 Bow St., Portsmouth NH) for a sweet refreshing dessert then stroll on up to G.Willikers! Toy Shop to check out our Izzy's Window Display: a "groovy" scene with 2 child- sized (literally the size of a child!) ice cream cones.
Lick off your lips and come on in for some hands-on fun!!!

We'd like to thank the Seacoast Science Center for being our Partner in Play for the month of June!
From our "Under the Sea" Store front window, to our G.Willikers! After Hours Event and storytime at the Science Center, we had "Oceans of Fun"!
I especially loved reading Herman the Hermit Crab to an enthusiastic group of Science Center Campers and visitors. We sang a hermit crab song, pretended we were hermit crabs with our Bilibo Chair shells and saw live hermit crabs!
We donated the Science Center a check for $50.00 which came from 10% of sales from their G.Willikers! After Hours, and $30.00 from our "save a bag" initiative. G.Willikers donates 10 cents to a local "green" fund whenever our customers choose not to take a plastic bag. That means that during the month of June together we saved 300 plastic bags from going into the environment! That's nothing to be "crabby" about!
This July we will be welcoming Izzy's Ice Cream shop as our next "Partner in Play!

As part of the many exciting things that we are doing throughout 2008 to celebrate our 30th year, we are hosting "Partners in Play" - partnering with our Seacoast neighbors to celebrate and support kids and families. This month we're excited to welcome the Seacoast Science Center as our newest Partner in Play!
Our Market St. Window will be transformed into an ocean theme, and we have several activities that we'll be collaborating on for the month of June, including a Go Bag Free! initiative and special G.Willikers! After Hours sales event that will donate 10% of the nights proceeds to the center.
The Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH is a "must see" for anyone wishing to discover the natural treasures and rich history of coastal New Hampshire. The Center's dramatic seaside setting, interpretive exhibits, and commitment to creating a memorable, personalized experience for each visitor sets it apart from other museums, aquariums and attractions.

Each month this year we have partnered with other Seacoast businesses and non-profits to celebrate our connections to this great community. It's hard to believe we're half way through the year!
We've had so much fun joining with these groups in a whole host of ways. We've partnered up for game days, story times, fundraisers and more. We have also found creative ways to do marketing and advertising together.
Our Market Street Partners in Play window has received lots of attention, and it has been great to collaborate and see how each new partnership designs the window. It's a true testament to the value of sharing resources and ideas.

As part of our 30th Birthday Year celebration, G.Willikers! Toy Shop is introducing a new local initiative: "Partners in Play." Each month we're partnering with our Seacoast neighbors to celebrate and support kids and families.
We will be featuring them in our storefront window and we'll display information about them at our counter so you can appreciate many of the great things that are available for children and families in our community.
Our first ever Partner in Play is Portsmouth Regional Maternal Child Services.
Portsmouth Regional Hospital Maternal Child Services offers ongoing support for moms and families. To learn more about Portsmouth Regional Maternal Child Services, visit their website at www.portsmouthhospital.com
